Choosing to donate a portion of every service booked was an easy decision for me. While many may argue it's not the best business practice to give away portions of profits, especially as a small business, I would say quite the contrary. I'm not like other businesses, and this is what is truly important to me as a business owner and an individual. I always want to feel good about the work I'm doing, and it makes me even more motivated when the work I'm doing is not only benefiting my clients, but also benefitting a charity that has meaning to my clients.
1. I love giving back
If you've read by About section, you already know helping is at the core of who I am as an individual. I want my business to not only reflect me, but also my beliefs so I can 100% stand behind exactly what I do and why I do it. I'm a wedding planner and designer because I love to see the joy on my clients' faces when their event comes together, I love to be the backbone helping my clients to love planning (and not just survive planning) their wedding, and I love to give back to the community and organizations across the globe and thought this is the perfect way to combine two of my passions. I find true fulfillment through giving back - whether it be my time and services to my clients or monetarily to those I couldn't otherwise reach.
2. My clients Love giving back
I love working with clients who also appreciate the act of giving back and helping causes they believe in. Everyone has a voice, and where we choose to donate shows the world what we truly care about. I know everyone has a unique story and many people have charities close to their heart. I want to always support my clients not only in every aspect of planning and design, but also support them in giving back, which is why the donation is made in their names, not mine.
3. Weddings are a time for spreading love
Weddings and events are gatherings of old friends, new friends, family, neighbors, relatives, teachers - all of the people that have meaning to your life in some way. Events are a time when people come together to celebrate your love, and shower you with their love and best wishes. There is no better time to pass on a little love and my sincere hope is that when you look back on your wedding, you'll know that it was not only one of the most amazing days of your life, but you'll also know that through your wedding you had an impact on your favorite organization or charity and truly made a difference to others.
4. To use my business to promote love
I know it sounds cheesy, but, you know those businesses that make you happy from the inside, out? That's what I'm here to do. I'm here to make you feel relieved by easing your stress during stressful wedding planning, be by your side helping you navigate the in's and out's of the small (but important) details, and cheering you on as you make one of the biggest life commitments to another amazing human being! (yeah, I have the best job ever!) I love to support you, and I love to use by business to spread a little bit more love into this world. I always want to use my business as a vehicle for good, but I can't do that without providing amazing service to my clients! You will always come first and I will always pour my heart into your event and together we can make even more positive impacts.
5. For organizations I love
I have many organizations I hold close to my heart and hope by providing the bonus service of a donation in my client's name, that I can also promote awareness of a charity I love. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is held most near and dear to my heart and my love for this charity made it easy for me to decide to donate a portion of all services booked because I feel so passionately and would donate to them all the time, if I was able. This organization rehabilitates baby elephants that are victims of poaching and wildlife crime and eventually these elephants are able to rejoin the wild. It is a huge ordeal these elephants have gone through losing their mother and families and the DSWT does an amazing job providing these elephants with the love and support to lead normal lives and gives them a second chance. I know other's have organizations they hold just as close to their heart and I want to give my client's the opportunity to make a meaningful difference on the charities they hold closest to their hearts, like I do with The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
There is often an internal hurdle we have to overcome in order to donate. We often walk away from people on the street asking for some help, or we choose not to donate as much as we could. I am human and have the same struggles! I want my business to not only help my client's create their dream wedding day, but also provide an avenue for them to make the impact on the world through their wedding. Wedding days are huge and so meaningful to all involved (there isn't a wedding yet that hasn't moved me to tears) and my hope is by donating 5% that you'll look back and know the difference your wedding had on so many other people's lives that you've never even met.
